I have never been interested in opera, nor have I ever seen one on TV or in person. But this looked interesting and the best part was I could watch it, with captions, from my favorite movie theater. I'm sure the ticket price was incredibly discounted also. I was worried about being bored after awhile, but that didn't happen. The performances were emotional and I found myself smiling from enjoyment. I didn't expect that either. There were 3 or 4 intermissions while the cast changed clothes, but more importantly, the staff changed the scenery on stage. During the simulcast we got to see them doing this. It was facinating. We also saw live interviews with the performers.
I think the season is over at The Metropolitan Opera, but we saw glimpses of the shows for next season. I'm looking forward to a couple of them.
I would have never thought I would be interested in this kind of music or show, but we are human and evolve. If we didn't, the world would be so very boring.
