I've found that when I don't have the money to buy things to spruce up my apartment, or surroundings, I rearrange or repurpose items I already have. Often I will take a beautiful tea cup to put paperclips in on my desk at work or a set of 4 glasses is missing one, so I took the other three to work to put pens, markers and scissors in.
I bought a set of measuring cups at Anthropologie about a year ago, but am afraid to put them in the kitchen because I just know, deep down inside, someone will break one of them. So I put them in the bathroom to hold Q-tips, dentals flossers, hair clips and rings. I know I kept them safe by doing that. They won't go in the kitchen until my son leaves to college in June/July/August of this year.
But yesterday at Michaels I found these two glass jars at 40% off and I just had to have them. The Q-tips and dental flossers fit perfectly. I'm still not putting the cups in the kitchen yet. In the meantime, the cups are going on my dresser.
But I just love these too. I had some money left on a gift certificate from Christmas and am sooo happy with my purchase. The smaller one was $3.59 and the other $4.19. And they were free for me using my GC.
