I bought The Hunger Games and Catching Fire a couple of months ago. But I had a stack of books I wanted to read first. I gave the paper back books to my BFF. But she won't start them until she has the last one in her posetion. I usually think it's silly when she does that, usually.
Last week I finished reading the last Elizabeth George novel, This Body of Death. I love her Inspector Lynley series. So when I was done I decided to get The Hunger Games on my Kindle. Since there are only three books, it IS called a trilogy, I decided to go ahead and purchase the first one. It was on sale for $5.
I had absolutely no idea what this book was about, but I had heard great things about it from many people. I am so glad I got it. I read it in about three days, and I'm not one to do that. I like to savor them. I usually only read on the subway. That's about one and a half hours a day, five days a week. But in this particular book I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. That is the BEST kind of book. In the middle of reading this I bought the next two titles to complete the trilogy. I am so glad I did that.
I don't want to give anything away. I hate when people do that. But... I'll say this: The story is told by a sixteen year old girl with the sense of a 35 year old. You cannot image the evironment she lives in. I guess you can call it post-apocolyps? The country and the laws are very different. I very much like when part of our society is tucked in the story here and there.
There is a love story of sorts. But I think this book is very smart and fun and scary and and suspenseful - I could go on, but I won't.
You can read a few pages here at Amazon. This way you can see if this book is for you. I highly suggest it, no matter your age. And if you do decide to read it, buy all three at one time. It will be worth it.
Enjoy
