I went to the gym after work to be evaluated by a trainer. This evaluation tells me where I am starting, not just how much I weigh, or how strong I am, but my body fat and how far I can stretch, how much balance I have and so on. I weigh what I thought I do, but I am sad about my blood pressure. At the doctor's office the other day it was fine. The girl was even surprised, I guess because of my weight. But today it was bad, but the trainer said it was expected because of nerves and so on. I was still not happy about it.
As far as the real tests, in junior high if I could do more than 5 push-ups it was a lot, and crunches? Are you kidding? Today I did 24 push-ups in one minute and 15 crunches. That put me in 'almost excellent' for push-ups and 'a little over average' for crunches. Not bad for an over weight old hag like myself. I also kicked butt on the rowing machine. I accomplished some balancing tests that some of the trainers can't, including the one I was working with.
So it seems that when I get dizzy on the treadmill it's because of my being fat/overweight. My heart is not getting oxygen through my blood. I'm one of those contestants on The Biggest Loser that faint during Week One. Well, I haven't fallen yet, and don't plan to. I will be doing cardio machines in intervals of one, three and five minutes. No fainting. You see, I have a bum ankle from a bad sprain just three months before Sept 11th. I need surgery, but don't want it. I also fell in Disney World, twice in one week, the year after. It was raining a lot. So I hurt the knee on my other leg. I am a mess when it comes to walking and taking stairs - and I live in NYC and use the subway system... My trainer says he can help me work through this injury, but in the meantime I've been walking like a handicapped person. I'm too young to do this. While doing this I've put strain on my knee and other ankle and hips. Anyway, I aim to fix all of this, step by step. I didn't join the gym to lose weight. I joined because I'm getting older and scared of falling apart. I think I am stronger than I knew and ready to tackle my health and injuries.
After all of these tests, which equalled a workout, I went to Madison Square Garden to see the circus. Here are some of the highlights:
I'm so happy for you that you're showing your body who's boss! =)
You look great in your new Twitter profile pic, BTW! :)
